How to Add a Domain to ServerByt and Change GoDaddy Nameservers

Managing web hosting and domains can often feel technical, but connecting your domain registrar to your hosting provider is a fundamental step in getting your website live.

This guide explains how to add a domain purchased from GoDaddy to your ServerByt hosting control panel and how to update the DNS nameservers to point correctly.

Prerequisites

  • A ServerByt hosting account.
  • A domain name purchased from a registrar (e.g., GoDaddy).
  • Access to both account dashboards.

Step 1: Add Your Domain to ServerByt

The first step is to tell your ServerByt hosting account that you want to host a specific domain.

  1. Log in to ServerByt: Start by opening the ServerByt login page and logging into your control panel [00:13].
  2. Navigate to Domain Settings: Once inside the dashboard, scroll down or look for the Domain Name section. Click on Domains to open the management area [01:12].
  3. Add the Domain: In the “Add a Domain” section, type in the full domain name you purchased (e.g., example.net).
  4. Confirm Addition: Click the “Add Domain” button. The system will process the request and display a success message confirming the domain has been added to your package [02:30].

Tip: You may also want to create a new folder under your public_html directory for this specific domain. This keeps your file structure organized if you plan to install web services or upload source files later [03:05].

Step 2: Update Nameservers on GoDaddy

Once ServerByt knows about the domain, you must tell the domain registrar (GoDaddy) to send traffic to ServerByt.

  1. Log in to GoDaddy: Access your GoDaddy account and navigate to the DNS Management page for your specific domain.
  2. Locate Nameservers: Scroll to the “Nameservers” section. You will likely see the default GoDaddy nameservers. Click on Change Name Servers [04:37].
  3. Choose Custom Nameservers: Select the option “I’ll use my own nameservers”.
  4. Enter ServerByt Nameservers: Input the ServerByt nameservers. If you need more fields, click “Add Nameserver” to ensure you include all of them. The typical nameservers are:
    • ns1.serverbyt.in
    • ns2.serverbyt.in
    • ns3.serverbyt.in
    • ns4.serverbyt.in [06:20]
  5. Save Changes: Click Save and then Continue to confirm the update.

Step 3: Wait for Propagation

After saving your new nameservers, the changes need to propagate across the internet.

  • Timeframe: This usually takes between 30 minutes to an hour, but in some cases, it can take up to 24 hours [07:03].
  • Verification: You can check the status by visiting your domain in a browser. Once propagation is complete, your domain will point to your ServerByt hosting instead of the default GoDaddy landing page.

Conclusion

By following these steps, you successfully bridge the gap between your domain registrar and your hosting provider. Your website is now ready for file uploads, WordPress installation, or any other web service you wish to run via ServerByt.
